About Us

_DSC1918.jpeg

Grow Together Learning Center is built on the belief that learning is an active process and knowledge is constructed by the child through “hands-on” experiences. A rich learning environment, one deliberately designed with much to explore and discover, is essential in helping young children learn basic skills. Therefore, the classrooms, large muscle room, playground and curriculum are set up to facilitate child-initiated, child-directed, and teacher-supported play.

Reggio Emilia, Italy is the birth place of our center’s pedagogy and was founded by Loris Malaguzzi after World War ll. The ideals and core values have lived on to influence early childhood educators all over the world.

In our Reggio inspired classrooms high value is placed on children’s work and ideas, as well as their play. Transcriptions of children’s remarks and discussions, photographs of their activities and representations of thinking and learning using many media are displayed to document their work. This documentation has several functions. Among these are to make children aware that their effort is valued; make parents and other adults aware of the children’s experiences; and to allow teachers to understand children better and to evaluate the teacher’s own work.

Kaitlyn and Kalen Swan are a wife and husband team who have a passion for early education and quality child care.

Kaitlyn has been working with children since her pre-teen years. Interreacting with young children came very naturally to Kaitlyn, however, she quickly learned the importance of being a professional in the field of early learning. She attended Columbus State Community College where she took administrator focused classes as well as earning her Preschool CDA, and an associate degree in Early Childhood Education and Development.

Kalen was also very involved in the lives of his young family members. At church he volunteered in the nursery as well as counseled at youth events. Since then he has obtained his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in Business Administration with a specialty in accounting. Post-graduation he has also taken classes in early childhood development and education.

Kaitlyn and Kalen have combined their professional skill sets to create a loving and caring educational environment for the children of families in their community.
